Women’s Rec & Safety Climb
This is a free event where women can network with other women arborists and have a safe/comfortable environment to learn and hang out with other women in the industry. Women arborists with any level of experience are welcome and encouraged to attend!
- Attendees will be broken into small groups with a mentor to provide guidance and supervision, answer questions and share tips/tricks.
- Safe climbing techniques will be promoted.
- The trees are available for rec climbing until 5 p. m., but you are not required to stay until the end.
- Don’t have your own climbing gear? Some gear will be provided by MATC if you want to give it a try!

Electrical Hazards Awareness Training
Electricity is a serious and widespread hazard to arborists. Even if you’re not working around distribution lines, a simple phone line can be energized with enough voltage to kill. This informative class will keep you in compliance with the ANSI Z133.1 to train each employee in electrical hazards and, most importantly, help keep you and your employees safe!
This course covers: Introduction to Electricity, Identifying Lines & Equipment, Understanding the MAD (minimum approach distance) Charts, Identifying the Hazards and Aerial Rescue. CEUs are available.

Urban Forests And Climate Change
This online course explores the ways in which urban forestry can improve climate change resilience while providing myriad benefits to both ecological and social communities. Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of the roles urban forest management and sustainable wood construction play in climate change mitigation, highlighting key obstacles and opportunities specific to urban and municipal-level forestry. The course identifies unique themes and addresses ways urban forests can be impacted by climate change as well as how management can be used as a tool to reduce social inequities, improve human health and reduce environmental and community vulnerability to climate-induced stressors. CEUs are available.
Participants can register at any time, but busy professionals should give themselves 2-3 weeks to complete the course. The course must be completed during the access window.

Forest And Urban Tree Pathology And Disease Management For Practitioners And Curious People
This course is designed for professionals in the tree care industry—arborists, landscapers, forest managers and extension educators—as well as curious individuals such as master gardeners and private citizens. The course provides foundational knowledge to recognize major diseases of forest and urban trees and apply pathology principles to new and unknown diseases.
The material is offered on an extremely flexible, continuous basis as a self-paced, self-contained online course. The course consists of 7 modules roughly equivalent to 7 in-class weeks of instruction. CEUs are available.
