ISA 2024 Virtual Event

Register now for the ISA 2024 Virtual Event! This year’s Virtual Event is better than ever and offers a more convenient, customizable experience. The event will be entirely on-demand, allowing participants to view sessions at their convenience while offering the chance to earn up to 14.5 CEUs. Please remember to select the Wisconsin Arborist Association as your chapter when you register.

Hear from leaders across the globe and gain valuable knowledge on topics related to research, practice, technology and much more. This engaging lineup of sessions will cater to a variety of interests and ensure there’s something for everyone.

ISA is excited to offer participants a dedicated Spanish track, as well as translations in more than 60 languages for all sessions. This will allow ISA’s diverse community from all over the world to experience the event in their native language through Wordly, a cutting-edge program designed to make events more accessible to a global audience.

The Virtual Event will be open from Nov. 1 – Nov. 30, 2024, ensuring those up for recertification on Dec. 31, 2024 will have time to earn any additional CEUs they might need. The deadline to register is Nov. 23.

Biological Invasion By Emerald Ash Borer Threatens Keystone Species Indelibly Entwined With Indigenous Cultures

Black ash (Fraxinus nigra) has cultural and spiritual significance to many Tribal Nations in the U.S. and First Nations in Canada, but unfortunately is also the most highly preferred and vulnerable host of emerald ash borer (EAB) in North America. Tune in to learn more about black ash, its importance to cultural lifeways of indigenous people and the ongoing efforts to mitigate the impacts of the EAB invasion on this cultural keystone species.

Integrated Pest Management For Arborists And Foresters

Trees are an integral part of our ecosystem, but they face many threats from invasive insects and diseases. Keeping trees healthy using integrated pest management (IPM) requires an understanding of the tree species and the pests that can cause harm. This free webinar will provide information on identifying common symptoms of unhealthy trees and IPM-based tactics, including biopesticides, for controlling various tree pests. Experts will focus on IPM approaches to maintenance and pest management for trees in urban, suburban and park settings.

Deadly Oak Diseases

Many of our stately oak trees and oak forests are susceptible to potentially serious pests. IPM-based tactics, including scouting and prevention, are key to limiting the impacts of these pests. This webinar will focus on oak wilt, a fungal disease and sudden oak death, caused by the fungus-like pathogen and will include a brief discussion of the oak moth and oak decline. Experts will provide arborists, foresters and others working with trees information on the IPM practices of monitoring, sanitation and plant health maintenance for reducing impacts from these devastating oak diseases. Updates on the latest research into prevention and control tactics will be provided.
