Conversations about the Wisconsin Community Tree Map

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Dan Buckler, DNR Urban Forest Assessment Specialist and Laura Lorentz, DNR Urban Forestry Policy & Partnership Specialist to talk about Wisconsin’s new Community Tree Map. This exciting tool has brought a lot of new excitement and opportunity to the states community forests; the Community Tree Map has the potential to assists the urban forestry team in developing policies based on data driven analysis, has given them a better tool to make recommendations, and helped to create awareness about the urban forest with community members and decision makers. Wisconsin Community Tree Map release

The DNR’s Urban Forestry program is excited to unveil a mapping application which provides a new way of viewing and learning about trees in your community. Wisconsin Community Tree Map is a browser-based application that maps community tree inventories. This means no special software is needed to run the application. Accepting applicants for urban positions

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry has two Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions open for applications.  One position is an Urban Forest Assessment Outreach Specialist with the Urban Forestry team and the other is an Urban Forest Inventory Specialist with the Forest Products Services team.  Each of these positions is a half-time appointment, and both are stationed out of Central Office in downtown Madison.
