CTMI graduate workshop II

Twenty-one Community Tree Management Institute (CTMI) graduates from communities across Wisconsin came together on two of the most beautiful days in September to participate in the Graduate Workshop II. This training and hands-on practice directly increases a community’s capacity to effectively manage its tree program.Discussing tree characteristics at workshop

Held on the Green Lake Conference Center grounds, the group worked both indoors and outdoors and took full advantage of the weather with assessments of trees, sites and pests. The full agenda included the following topics: Funding Opportunities, Risk Tree Assessment, Insect & Disease Diagnosis, and Species & Site Selection. Collecting tree measurements at workshop

One ISA certified arborist had this to say, “I thought the training was the best yet that I’ve attended. It was really focused on the subjects I needed the most help with.”

CTMI is specifically designed for municipal staff with tree management responsibilities but without a strong background in urban forestry. The fifth CTMI class is slated to begin in the fall of 2020. More information on CTMI can be found here.
