Listen Up: Forest Health Chats On WPR

The members of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR)’s Forest Health team are often asked by media to educate their listeners, readers and viewers about the forest health topics of the day.

Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) is in frequent contact with Forest Health team members and makes its broadcasts and articles available to the public online.

Here is a list of Forest Health team appearances in WPR broadcasts and articles during 2024:

Aug. 24, 2024: Paul Cigan talks with Larry Meiller about the confirmation of emerald ash borer presence in all 72 Wisconsin counties.

May 31, 2024: Paul Cigan visits with Larry Meiller about how to grow and maintain healthy trees.

May 10, 2024: Paul Cigan is interviewed by Danielle Kaeding to discuss the spread of emerald ash borer toward northern Wisconsin.

May 1, 2024: Bill McNee is quoted by Danielle Kaeding in a radio news item previewing the emergence of spongy moth caterpillars in Wisconsin.

April 11, 2024: Mike Hillstrom talks with Kate Archer with about the convergence of two broods of periodical cicadas.

April 1, 2024: Mike Hillstrom is interviewed by John Davis for an article about the DNR’s new satellite mapping tool to fight oak wilt.

Feb. 12, 2024: Bill McNee chats with Brady Carlson about ways to check ash trees for the deadly invasive pest emerald ash borer.
